WELCOME: to this Scottish Christian Party News site.
We (the Scottish Christian Party – SCP)  will try faithfully to reflect the Christian-Biblical basis of our Party and proclaim Christ’s Lordship over politics.

In a review of the main Scottish newspapers (Herald; Scotsman; etc) from the beginning of February to present, and despite the vast number of topics and issues addressed, there is – surprise, surprise! – no recognition whatsoever that the affairs of this world are the concern of a holy and just God who sent His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, as Saviour and Lord, not only of the Church but also over all of life, including politics, and that He commands all men everywhere to repent and believe the Gospel.

Take one news item from The Herald of 2/3/07: “One in four people living in deprived areas struck down by depression…Family issues, marital breakdown, problems with neighbours, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, threats of violence.”

What better example of a (Scottish) society speeding down the road to disaster? And all because the nation has wilfully ignored the Biblical injunction: “But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6: 33)
What other political party has this answer? Only the Scottish Christian Party Proclaiming Christ’s Lordship.

Our Beliefs
The next time a politician knocks on your door ask him or her,
" How much longer must we live in fear?"

We now live in fear of terrorist attack, crime on our streets, diseases in our hospitals, global warming;
We are even made to live in fear of speaking out (just in case we offend someone).

Indeed, the current political norm is the "politics of fear".
The Scottish Christian Party is different, we believe in the "politics of faith".
Our faith is in the Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and our politics are based on that faith.

To some people our policies may be offensive, however, we do not set out to offend. The Bible tells us that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is by its nature offensive to those who do not believe it. The reason is simple:

The word "gospel" means " good news". You can only have "good news" in contrast to " bad news". Therefore the good news of the gospel can only be appreciated as it sheds light on bad news.
What is the bad news?

The bad news is that mankind is by nature sinful. Many things that man considers normal and natural are in fact sinful. You have no doubt heard it said, " That's human nature!" or "That's only natural!" to justify some sort of wrong behaviour.

We are ALL sinners.
Yes, you are included.
Furthermore, there is a price to pay for sin. That price is death-separation from God.

The good news is that on Calvary's Cross God Himself paid the death penalty.  Jesus Christ, the God-man, through His crucifixion received the wages of sin, which is death that was due to us all and so He has thereby secured the authority to forgive sin.

Jesus Himself was not due any wage for sin because He was sinless i.e. Jesus never ever committed a single sin in His entire life. Amazing but true. Jesus' life in the first century AD was God's provision of an example of what true humanity, untarnished by sin, looks like.

Jesus' life was not however, a super-human life. it was the life of a man "full of grace and truth." The grace of God and the truth of God's Word enabled and guided Jesus the Son, as truly man, to live sinlessly in right relationship with God the Father.

Do you find what you have just read hard to believe? Yes it is;
until God gives you the faith you need to believe; as He has done for millions of Christians.

Having read this portion of our election address, at least you know the gospel that we in the Scottish Christian Party believe. It is the prayer of the Scottish Christian Party that by God's grace you come to believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the revelation of God's love. God's love is perfect and "perfect love drives out fear" - including the "politics of fear".

" God so loved the world, that
He gave His only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish,
but have everlasting life."
John 3: 16
